GEICO wants you to help us spread the word on teen safe driving. In 2007, 1.2 million drivers age 16 – 19 were involved in 1.1 million crashes and nearly 1 million were injured.

Through proactive outreach and interaction from you, GEICO wants to decrease the number of teen deaths from car crashes. Visit geicoteendriving.com for more information and find out how to get more involved in the cause.

This blog will be a forum to discuss the most current issues in teen safe driving and what we all can do to be safe drivers. Let us know your opinions, ideas and thoughts on how to be safe behind the wheel!

I am sure it seems pretty scary at this point. I think the real reason for your parents encouraging you to drive is that it helps in the growth process in becoming an adult. The responsibility, if taken seriously, matures you. I know you will make an excellent driver because you understand the inherent danger and risks and responsibilities. Proud of you. I remember going through these worries many years ago.

This is a very important topic – we offer a free “Learning to Drive: a guide for parents” booklet which might be of interest to your readers http://www.drivers.com/article/218/ – it can be downloaded in PDF format and has been used across school boards, driving schools and other authorities
